Default Stock LM7 5.3 shortblock

What do you guys think is the max on this assembly? Picking up an NX3 nitrous cam and ported heads, looking to run a 250 shot.

I have seen people on this site who have done it with LS1s, I don't see why you couldn't do it with a 5.3. That is a lot of squeeze for stock pistons, but guys do it and more.

We have a guy here that does it in his pickup with a stock 5.3 and a nice cam. I'll see if I can get him to chime in.

I personally have sprayed 250 through a single nozzle on my stock bottom end LM7. However i do have a fairly large cam in my engine to do so. You will want to watch your plugs and pull enough timing (Around 10 Degrees to start). I would recommend running a 8 range NGK spark plug.

250shot with a nice proper cam will be a cake. What is your fuel system setup?

Good call on the dedicated fuel cell. There is a member on here with a 5.3 and i think he is hitting it with a 200 shot and running 9.80's with a 94-98 body stang. A 250 hit ought to fly.

not sure which way to go for a trans. I just picked up a new trans specialties glide with 4500 stall and a brake and i have 4.10s. But the car now has 2pumps in the cell from the previous owner and he just drew the extra fuel from the cell for the spray on the last motor. Its going to have a set of ported 806 heads and a NX3 cam. that should love the shot.
