Semi-budget build Forged LS3
Well it happened, I hurt piston #7 in my LS3 C5. 8.5psi of boost v2 vortech. Still looking at what went wrong and I still need to tear down the motor but ive ordered a few parts already. I believe the piston was already hurt since the old tune wasnt great and a wiring issue was causing the ecu to pull or add timing sporadically. I fixed the issue before the supercharger install but I guess it was too late so time to rr. I call it a budget build because im getting only what I need and putting the money where I need it, basically just pistons and rods. All the other parts are already on the car. The car was making 600rwhp 510rwtq. Gonna keep the boost and everything the same, just better parts. The car cant hook at all so I dont plan on turning it up any time soon.
What I got so far...
Wiseco 4.07 bore 2816 forged alloy piston, -3.2cc dish, 10.0cr w/GFX rings, steel top napier second
Scat I beam rods, 4340 forged alloy, ARP 8470 7/16 bolts, 6.125 legth 610grams
Stock crank polished
Stud the block, new cam and main bearings
Torque plate hone cylinders
GM head gaskets 0.051 thickness
Stock LS3 heads, PRC .675 springs already on car
Ported LS6 oil pump already on car
New LS7 lifters and trays
ARP head bolts.

Many have recommended h beams but I got a deal on the parts from a vendor ive worked with before. We've used the I beams before with good success and theres many guys at 650 750rwhp with the I beams. If you do a search here on tech youll find that theyre a good budget rod, light too.
