Default What is the quietest 4" muffler I can get?

Right now I'm running longtubes, 3 ory into a 3 to 4 FM merge, over the axle into a single 4" magnaflow bullet in the stock location and a single hidden tip on the driver side. Well the car is bareable but I want it as quiet as possible. I plan on doing dual 3" cutouts for the track so the main priority is quiet. Are their anything out there that will shut it up anymore?

I'd consider adding a Dynomax race bullet muffler(# 24217, $50)in the I-pipe if room permits, otherwise I'd look at the Hooker max. flow (#21609HKR, $70), and the
Borla XR-1 (#40948, $203) to replace the Magnaflow race muffler which I believe contains no packing material around the perforated tube.

UDo an oem diesel muffler?? Install a dynatech cone silencer? I had one on my 4" bullet. It fell off a few times and that proved to me that it was working pretty good. No seat of the pants power loss but Im sure it hurt a little.. Do 2 or 3 of those if space is limited.

The longest/largest diameter case you can fit under your car. I have a true dual 3" and am running 2 Maganaflow 6" diameter 18' case mufflers. Bullets and all that jazz isn't going to muffle ish...

I forgot to mention I actually have a 4" dynomax bullet in the I all ready and I'm running the 14163 magnaflow. I've been looking at the Hooker Maxflow I just wasn't sure if it would be any quieter than the magnaflow. http://www.summitracing.com/parts/ho...9hkr/overview/

Hooker MaxFlow muffler is awesome. Keeps a deep tone while being quiet (if that is what you want). I pulled it off my last car because I wanted loud.

Yeah, the Max flow is suppose to be quieter than the Aero chamber except for WOT.
Here's the only other option that I think's worth looking at. Dynomax Ultra Flo #17537 (6" dia., 22"case length, about $110), this is the longest that's known to fit in the stock location.

The Maxflow I had (single 3") was quiet all the time. I would pull it on and off the car depending on what I was doing. For a long drive, it was awesome to have. Otherwise I ran a dumped dynomax bullet, which is loud.

Do you guys think the max flow will quieten down a noticeable amount over the magnaflow? I probably should have given a little more info on the car. Its a 10.90 M6 SBE car so I suppose it makes a little more noise then your average LS1. I'd just like to be able to drive by cops without worrying to much.

I'm sure that the Dynomax Ultra Flo #17537 will be noticeably quieter, but as far as the Hooker Max Flow I really couldn't say.

In all the tests online the MaxFlow is the quietest at idle and cruise and the loudest WOT. I have never heard a magnaflow in person, but the MaxFlow was pretty tame.

Magnaflow is a muffler that I like to call very close to "perfect". Sounds great at idle but very loud at WOT when you want it too. Never heard a MaxFlow in person soo cant help on that muffler.

I'm a Magnaflow fan. For such a through and through design, they tone it down well.

Maxflow is a magnaflow clone. Sound the same, perform
the same.

Another one for Magnaflow if you want quiet. Just go on their website and pick one of their quieter ones.

Since you're going to be running dual cut-outs then here's a Option that will work good, but you'll need to run a good 4" to 3.5" reducer before the muffler then another 4" to 3.5" reducer flipped around so you can use your current tail pipe, or you could just get a 3.5" 90* bend and cut the exit end at about a 45* angle and use that as you tail pipe. The muffler is a magnaflow #12909. 3.5" in/out.

I am with the others, the magnaflow will help the noise. Good luck!
