Default 700 rwhp on stock motor?

Hey guy, I thought I use to post here years ago but looking at my post count, it must have been another site.

Anyway, I'm asking this for a friend. He has a 2010 Camaro SS. When he bought it (a couple months ago) he was told it has a 427 stroker, cam, Vortech (V3), and Meth Injection. He got it from a dealership, they had no build sheet, specs, nothing. He's wanting me to take it to the drag strip and make some passes so first thing I wanted to do was get it on the dyno to make sure the tune was good (since he knows nothing of the car). The car has 15k miles and a 6 speed.

When we got to the dyno shop, they were telling him that it was a stock motor (with a cam). They said they could tell by looking that the heads have never been off the car. He was disappointed to hear that because he felt like he got swindled. Not knowing what that car should make (if it were the stock motor) he was hoping for 500 rwhp. After a few pulls it ended up with 709 rwhp at only 8.5# of boost. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvNHE...ature=youtu.be

So would y'all think that it does have a 427 in it?

One other thing. How strong is the stock IRS in these cars (assuming that's stock)? I don't plan of launching if off the limiter on slicks but do you think it would hold up to some not so aggressive launches on a good drag radial? If this were your car, would you upgrade the half shafts, put a 12 bolt in it, or what?

Thanks for your help,
Mike

If its at stock compression it could make that kind of power on that boost. Especially through a 6 speed. Iv think its kind of but nothing crazy.

Meth or race fuel with a good tune he will be fine on the stock bottom. I would add race fuel when at the track for extra cheap insurance

Thanks guys. I guess I'm just surprised that it made that hp with only 8.5#, on the stock motor. I was thinking that was closer to LS7 numbers... but then again I don't know these cars.

One other thing, he has a Snow meth kit, he's thinking about getting a full meth kit. He also has a boost a pump coming, the tune he left the shop with is at 12.1:1.

Detoxx on here has an LS3 manual vette and he has made 740+ rwhp on the stock motor with a blower cam from Futral and all the supporting mods.

I see you're already at Futral's shop with the car.

I see Futral still has the "lean is mean" mantra. I hope the timing is backed off.

Yeah, that's my first time dealing with them. I was thinking it should have been ~11.5:1 at most? I have no idea what he did with the timing. I was wanting to see the tune file but haven't got it yet. The thing that confused me what that Allan said he needed to get a BAP but the original tune was off the chart. Somewhere below 10:1. The only thing I can thing is that he's trying to squeeze the most power possible (nearly 50rwhp). When my buddy goes back for the BAP, he's going to have to get a more conservative tune for it. He wasn't expecting 700+hp, I think he just wants a good running car with a safe tune. That and he wants to see if I can get it in the 10's.

BTW I'm also from Slidell, been here most of my life. What's your name? I may know you.

Forgot to say my AFR is 10.8-11.0. And only 14 degrees of timing.

Allen may be a different person by now but I had some issues and horror stories with him in the past. Charley that works for him is a cool guy though.

Leave the dyno king numbers to the dyno racers. Get a conservative tune on that thing and then run it at the track. The car can be ran with a higher AFR as such but the timing will have to be backed down to keep it happy. Meth would be a good added safety measure at this point in time. I'll PM you my info.
