Anyone ever have a short in their ALDL port?UPDATE, more help????
I have one in my car, and the shop is having trouble locating it, any info on if this has happened before where it would occur? The ALDL port is the port that is under the drivers side dash that you plug your laptop, scanmaster, hypertech, etc. into. Any help is appreciated.
thanks guys

A buddy of mine had some problems with his. It wasn't exactly a short, but somehow a couple of the pins in his ALDL port had lost their barb that holds them in place. When we would scan his car, we had to push the pins back through the connector from the back.
Do you have a wire that's constantly grounded out? If so, to figure out which one it is, disconnect your battery and take a multimeter to it. Put one probe on the chassis, and start touching the other probe in terminals one at a time on the ALDL port. When you get continuity, you've found your shorted wire.

Well the problem they are having is the power source to the port is bad, as soon as the hook the scanner to it, the fuse pops, they said it is the power source, and that the data wires are good, they have concentrated under the dash mostly, but have 6 hours into it and havent found it yet, HELP!!!
