Cool Project DEAD-CAT Turbo 6.0L 4L80e - '99 Jaguar

Thought I would start a build thread of my '99 jaguar XJ8 Sedan

Weighs in at 3900lbs and from what I can determine is a bit less than some GTO's. 33mm front swaybar and dana 44 rear end

LQ4
4L80e
Precision billet 76/75 turbo
Godspeed 12x24x3 intercooler
80lb injectors

Need to finalize motor mount welds then have them powder coated. Will post more pics soon. Way more room than a b-body or any other swap I have done. 8 inches clearance from firewall to heads. 6 inches from head/block surface to frame rails. Tunnel looks like it can almost fit an Allison trans. Just kidding but still plenty of room.

Looks like there's tons of space in there.
Can't wait to see some progress.

Wink

I called it DEAD CAT cause it did not run when I got it and just to irritate the purist JAg guys. Yes, it's a dead rabbit on the intake. I also cleaned almost 100 peach pits off the engine, trans and frame. I will post a pic of the air box that was FULL of pack rat poop. Just need to find the pic.

Original boat anchor

New engine installed to mock up motor mounts.

New toys ;-)

Front raised up nearly 2 inches with iron 6.0L and 4L80e compared to factory aluminum 4.0L angine and ZF trans.

Plenty of firwall clearance.

Started with a 2006 Savannah van harness. It's 12 feet long. Will mount PCM directly above bellhousing after removing a mile of wires to shorten it.

As it sits now.

Nice install as always.

I love how installing an iron Gen III / IV engine RAISES the front of the car. I've seen this so often I'm almost not surprised by it any longer.

Wink

Got motor mounts back from powder coater today. The paddle end with small hole will have a 1/2 inch allen head bolt going down through it then through the frame and a nut on bottom. Black urethane bushings keep it tight and clean. Flat plate is bolted to top of cast aluminum trans crossmember then bolts to trans tailshaft and Urethane trans mount. Will post pics of layout soon as I pull it apart. Waiting on $$ to buy Isky tripple 12 cam; should be sometime next week.

Here is where I am going to mount the PCM.

Here is a during mock-up pic of engine mount

Van harness measurement. Think I will shorten it a bit. Eric suggested I place PCM in trunk. ;-)

Snakes ! Thats a gallon container of oil not a quart to show size relationship.

Literally 12 feet long van harness

Driver side frame rail and engine mount through frame hole

Eric (thx) got me a Astro van Hydro-boost unit last month and will convert over to it too.

Isky cam can be ordered directly from stock48 here on ls1tech. Comparable prices to all lsx cams.

very cool, will you be selling the mounts and such needed if one wanted to tackle this swap? I have been kicking around the idea of finding an XJR with a dead motor and do a 5.3 turbo setup.
