Ok,people who have done this for as little coin as possible. Please post your set-up. I dont care about engine specifics, just how you got it bolted in. What headers, accessories, and harness did you use? What transmission are you running and how did you fab your crossmember. What k-member/engine mounts are you using.
If you are running a stock k-member what clearance problems did you have?
Ive searched high and low so lets just get a good thread going.

I have some dynatech headers and wonder if they will clear with the stock k-member and modified 4.6 motormounts. I know i should get the aje but then i have to run a-arms,coil overs or get pockets and all that jazz.

Can't speak from experience with the dynatechs but I'll guess that they will not fit with the stock K member, that thing takes up a TON of real estate.

Just buy the AJE, you don't need different a-arms or coil overs. They can add the spring pockets for about $40. You can always upgrade to aftermarket a-arms & coil overs later.

It's a lot less headache to go ahead and get the AJE k member, also saves a good portion of weight and like boostnut said real estate.
For what I've bought for my swap.
AJE K-member
AJE Motor mounts
AJE Trans crossmember
PSI Stand-alone harness
Team Z Motorsports headers

Those are the basic things I have for my future swap.
Brings it in just around 1600 give or take.
But then you have to have all of the fuel stuff, cooling, motor/trans, accessories, driveshaft, and the other odds and ends.

I've seen build threads where guys are putting them together with doing all of their own fab work and getting into them for about 5K give or take, and that's with hand me down parts, junk yard motor/trans/radiator, making their own mounts, and doing their own wiring, and not using headers just using manifolds and making the rest of the exhaust.

Hope that helps a little.

Its not that the money is a issue for the k-member.I was to use this as a street car and didnt want it to fold up on me. Anyone else have any junkyard secrets?

AJE offers an "autocross" K-member with additional gussets. I opted for it, triangles make **** strong.
