Default What year CTS V to buy?

So I just sold the car in my sig, 500 HP at the motor. I have been looking at the V's and see a drastic price difference in the supercharged one for sale.

For those of you with the Pre 2009 CTS V, are you happy with the car and power? Its pretty much the same as my car in the sig was stock in a heavier car.

Is it worth it to go to the V? I really would like to keep this car stock as its alot of work to maintain a modified car like in my sig?

I also see alot of mixed dyno numbers on the supercharged versions, 430 rwhp to 475 rwhp stock, what is a realistic number on a dynojet?

Is this because 07 changes to the LS2?

Your gonna need an expensive rear and heads/cam to get there.

I read that the supercharged v's run 12.0 to 12.5 at 115-117, is this not correct?

You asked us about the V1 (04-07) but you continue to reference V2 power/specs. A V1 is not a low 12sec 115+ stock car. To get there you'll need to modify it, which you said you don't want to do. There was no V in 2008.

Sorry, not that familiar with the CTS's. So V is the older ones, V2 is the supercharged?

You're right they're all CTS-V just 1 and 2 generations. Big price difference between them on the used market. I have a '06 and love it. If you're okay with a car slightly slower than your demands the V1 is a fun, reliable car. Everything about the V2 is better except fuel economy which is pretty crappy, also it's heavy but I haven't driven one so not sure how much you feel it.

Here's your details. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cadillac_CTS-V

Gas mileage doesnt matter as it wont be a daily. I had bad luck with modifying on my last car, went thru 2 motors. So I would like to keep it stock or bolt ons.

I got 113 with just headers exhaust. Only V2's offer an auto also. Basically it comes down to do you want to spend $15-20k or $35k+?

V1s trap around 106-109 stock... The rear is weaker than the stock 10 bolts in the F bodies... so yeah, not a drag car..

There's a huge price difference between a V1 and V2.

So tell me about the rears, whats the weak link?

Also, does anyone have any other suggestions for cars? I am trying to find a car with the same or more HP than my other car, which had about 500 at the motor. I am looking for a car that has 4 seats and is fast. I think I am out of the Camaro stage and am leaning towards the CTS. I really didnt see much out there as fast as the CTS V's for the price.

To get a V1 to that power level and replace the rear end with a ford unit you'd be spending as much as a 09 V. For you, the answer is a V2. LOVE my V1.
