Default bolt on C5Z vs 35R Evo8

2002 C5 Z06
ARH 1 3/4 longtubes
Catless Xpipe
Callaway Honker cold air intake
402rwhp 376rwtq

2005 Evo8
2.3 stroker
35r ball bearing turbo (not sure on specifics)
cams
full supporting mods, etc
26psi 93 octane pump gas

510whp 378wtq

We did a few pulls and the outcome was pretty much the same every time. This is the only good video I got on film because my passenger didn't know how to work the camera well. The EVO driver also has a video, I might be able to get it from him later.

IMO the driver of the EVO made two mistakes when he ran me. He did not brake boost and he did not no lift shift. You can see when he goes to shift into 4th in the video I really pull him pretty bad. We are planning on getting some better videos soon. 20mph, 40mph, and then 60mph rolls.

I think if he brake boosts and no lift shifts it will be much closer, with the edge probably going to him. The run in the video I started in 3rd gear at 55mph which is a dead spot for me anyways. I'll make sure i'm more in my powerband in the next races.

Enjoy.

oh and just going to mention before anyone says anything...

We both left on the third honk. He just lagged and I took off. I remember looking over on the third honk and I saw his front fender raise up and then heard the open dump shortly after.

You should be a walk in the park for him once he learns how to drive it but until then...

We will get more races soon. Maybe even swap drivers to see if the outcome changes.

Evo started in 3rd gear at 55mph. What gear should he have been in?

Good kill... but i would have to agree... that thing if setup right and driven right shouldnt have a problem doing a 130mph in the quarter.

You can tell it's obviously not in his powerband. An evo set up like that should walk away from you if he knew how to drive. You have the broad powerband advantage and that's what got you the W.

I know 500whp Evo's are usually no joke but let me ask you this. He only has a 110hp advantage on my car, the torque is the same. That 110hp advantage is worth 10mph in trap speeds? (if my car traps 120mph for example)

I agree with you 100% it should have freight trained me. I'm interested to see how bad I lose when he shifts it right and brake boosts. We will see I guess.

Evo's run very hard when driven well. My buddy's stock turbo Evo has pulled numerous low 400 whp C5s. A 35r car should walk you.

x2. I yanked a couple 400whp F-bodies in my <350whp Evo X, god knows what an additional 150whp could've done.

That said, nice kill

+1..Last I heard is that the driver and the car are one. Car is no good without a driver and a driver is no good without a vehicle. Should be no consideration about separation of a vehicle and its driver.

Good kill, man!
