So my damper came off today on my way back to the office after lunch. I can't tell if the bolt broke or came out at this point. Once I get it towed home I will put it on the lift and take it apart. Any bets? Never seen or had this problem in my life.
I attached the best picture I could get in the parking lot.

Wow!
Be very curious to know the details of the install. After having my OEM come out, not in a hurry to have that happen again.
From the pic, I'm voting for broken: When mine came off, the bolt was sticking out the back of the damper and into the crank snout, and fishing it out was a PITA. The longer ARP bolt ought to make it even more so.

Yeah, it's next to blinker fluid.
The ARP bolt I got came with a packet of some thick *** greasy lubey stuff. My wife said no, so I used it on both sides of the washer. I did NOT put it on the threads, even though the instructions said to, because that seemed just plain stupid.

And here I thought I had issues messing up the first crank thread from pulling the stock balancer trying to install that same balancer this weekend. I am definitely not an engine expert but I would try and press the ati balancer back on there as mentioned with a new arp or gm bolt and see if it holds or causes any vibrations. I would think that is worth a shot given the cost of the alternatives. I recommend the hawk ls tool from colorado speed. If the balancer slips back on by hand then you know your answer at that point.
