Default Water pump and timing set choices?

I ve searched many sites to find an accurate answer to which water pump and timing set to run.

(Single roller dual roller or just to stay stock)

Could you guys please help me out with part# and what has worked best for you guys? Especially before I spend unnecessary money! Or at least direct me to a thread which helps answer my question. . . . . . . .

Mechanical pump I assume?
Just look up the GM part for the water pump.
I'd use the Cloyes 3228 timing set, same as the GM stock set except a tighter fit.
