Default Now that winters here....

Just a reminder for those of us that run straight water....time to drain

Now....whats the best way with an LS motor
My Old School SBC had a petcock like the radiator, I don't see a plug anywhere on my LS
Guess for now I'll just pull the hoses and try blowing in some air ?

I would just pull the lower and then replace the missing fluid with straight coolant and whatever is left in the engine should be a good mix to get it where you want. I'm in the Houston area in Texas, so I don't worry too much.

Im gonna weld a bung into my rad so I can drain mine, really pissed that this aluminum rad I got doesnt have 1.
on another note, I ran strait water this past summer as my local track is very sticky on NO antifreze, when I drained it out yesterday, it is VERY rusty! crazy how fast that happens!
Anyone know if 'water wetter' or another kind of drag strip approved additive will prevent corrosion?

I Wish!
Last track day here is last weekend in sept. Typically frost in the mornings after that, and by now ice on top of standing water unless daytime sunshine burns it off!
I gotta find me some high-line work down south and move down there!

Good luck with finding the high line work down here, ha ha. cost of living is probably cheaper so it evens out I guess.

Winter is close here also. Last track day was sep 22nd. Local track is laid back. i run 50/50 so no worries. but I agree that no antifreeze. I would pull lower radiator hose and then fill with antifreeze. I would run the motor like this til it warms up to make sure there is antifreeze it the whole cooling system. Should be good. as long as any existing water mixes with the antifreeze. good to go.

Yes, it does prevent corrosion. I've ran it before. It almost has an oil type feel to it like antifreeze. I used the Redline water wetter.

Using straight distilled water helped mine out a lot.

A lot of the guys around here swear by Royal Purple additive, I think it's called Purple Ice.
