Default newbie, have some 6.0 questions

I have a 67 Chevelle I am going to put a 99 or 2000 6.0 engine in. (it has iron heads) I have a few questions.

Is it possible to put a set of 2004 5.3 aluminum heads on it? what would the CR be?

Will a Vortec style 4L60E trans bolt up to this engine? (old small block style)

I plan on modding my harness or possibly 150tunes.com - any reccomendations?

Thanks for any/all info.

Trans will bolt on fine, just one bolt missing.

I was under the impresion that the early 6.0 had a. 400 longer crank and required the early style trans. Does the engine have that bolt hole at 12 o'clock?

You are right about the crank I think. There is a bolt hole at the top position, its the one that is about in the 2 o clock position missing I think. I know I have 5 in mine. Yo uwould have to research the crank thing, my motor is a 07, so I am not sure about that.

Don't think 5.3 heads would work as they have a smaller bore than the 6.0s. They'll bolt on, but not sure they'll work (well) on the 6.0. Should be able to find aluminum heads for a 6.0 just as easily though.

Did you ever deal with 150 tunes? How was the service and turnaround? Not to mention, how did the tune work out? He is local to me and I was thinking about giving him a try. Thanks

Have not used them, I did get a tune done by Brandon at lt1swaps.com but that was for my 5.3 so now I need to get another for my 6.0, Not sure what way I am going to go yet, It's a slow process. (me working on my 67)

How did that tune work out? Brandon is local to me somewhat, thinking about using him to do the tune on my 6.0

Def would not go with the 5.3 heads. Get a set of 243 or 799 casting heads at a minimum they will provide a nice bump in power and compression over the old ones and you'll either need to swap the crank or use the older style trans for the motor
