Fitting 85MM MAF to 75 MM Lid
Hey guys, when I bought my WS6 the previous owner had installed the FIPK intake. I never really cared for that setup so I went ahead and purchased an air lid. Little did I know he also added a Delphi 85 MM MAF and de-screened it as well. I was wondering if anybody knew where I could get an adapter to mate these two together? Also is the 85 MM MAF worth having or should I just find a used stock MAF instead of an adapter? What do you think? Thanks!

Moved this to GenIII External since there was no
Gen IV Firebird.
You may need to get a coupler to go outside of
both. This would be an oddball size - the SLP MAF
came with a cut-off segment of a funky specialty
Fernco coupler, about 3-1/4" ID. You might check
out Baker Precision (makers of silicone turbo hoses).
Or go low rent and scrounge a proper diameter
busted inner tube from your local motorcycle
mechanic and hack away. Depends how ugly
you're willing to go.
The 85mm MAF is fine if the vehicle is tuned right
for it. It limits at lower air mass flows but you are
not likely to run into that without enough modding
that speed density tuning starts to look like a good
idea.
But the MAF may be a SLP one, if you see the little
resistor tacked on. If not then the car likely has a
tune modified for the 85mm and re-swapping back
to 75mm you'll have to touch it again.

Just throwing it out there, anybody selling a stock screened MAF? The car has idled kind of rough since I bought it compared to the two WS6s I owned in the past. I'm starting to think the previous owner might not have tuned it after adding the 85 MM MAF?. Might just try a stock one for the right price lol. Thanks for any more help or interest guys!
