LT1 vs rustang
So there's this mustang in my town and I can hear a cam and exhaust I know of. The guy won't tell me what all has been done to it. Just what I can hear. My car has a 100 shot and bolt ons and ran a 12.41 at 115 bringing the nitrous in in second gear. Now the car has 3.73's. Do y'all think I could pull out the W on him? Maybe I should throw in the 150 shot for insurance? I beat his buddy's heads cam lt1. But I'm not sure what's been done to the mustang. So I guess It's a hard question to answer. Since there's no way I can tell if the car has other things besides a cam.

There are a lot of factors that would actually determine a win. Try to get some more info on his car, such as year, trim, tires, check to see if he has a roll cage or not, etc. One main thing to listen for is a whine or whistle from a supercharger or turbo because most Mustang guys would rather just boost it instead of building the motor. Also, what year is your car? If heads and cam is all he has and it's either a Fox body 4th gen, or early 5th gen, then your 3.73s, 100 shot and bolt ons should do the trick.

It's an 03-04 model. Can't believe i forgot to mention that. I've seen under the hood. Looks stock so no intake it's a GT car. No kenne bell under there. Haha.
My car is a 93 a4 btw

If it's just a cammed 2V 4.6 GT, he's barely doing over 300HP so you should have plenty advantage over that slow pile.

That's what I figured. But the guy said he doesn't race for anything under 200 bucks and I only race for bragging rights. So it makes me think he has something hidden in there. But then again I raced another mustang guy and he wanted to put money on it and I talked him into racing for fun and I pulled him about 5-6 lengths. That race was NA too. With 2.73 gears rather than 3.73

Yeah he has full exhaust. I would imagine full bolt ons too since he has a cam. But I think I could get him if he had a cam only setup. I'm just worried that the heads may be ported. I could base a lot off what under the hood looks like. But I could take my lt and slap on a le2 setup and it still look stock under the hood and run out the back doors. Lol. I think I could put the hurt on him pretty good like it is though. Just throw in the 150 jets and pull a degree or two out and give him hell.
Oh and as for that year running good with full exhaust... I yanked one of those down the road pretty good as well on a NA race.

I wouldn't underestimate him. If he is full bolt on and cams, he won't be pushing more than 310RWP. If he has trickflow heads in that mix, he can be pushing up around 345rwp. Either way, if he has gears, suspension and can drive at all, he could be pretty deep into the 12's. Odds are that you will crush him, but I wouldn't want to put money down.

If he's talkin' 200 bucks just to race him, he's either confident about his setup or a tool. Does he know what you're running? By the way it sounds he isn't spraying, he has a cam, maybe heads. Probably a couple bolt-ons. You shouldn't be too worried. 'Stang guys are cocky. The ones I have met anyways. Most of them think LT1s are garbage and only respect an LS1, until they get the floor wiped with them by an LT1
