Default Engine number location Ls-1

Hi guys im hoping someone can tell me where I can find the engine number location.
The engine is an ls-1 from a 2002 Camaro, the car is not in my possession at the moment it is with a shop doing some work on my truck. I need the engine number for registration purposes here in Australia.

Thanks for any help.

Mark.

Unrelated question, but can I use that spot to verify if I have an ls6 block?

Casting # will tell you if it's an LS6. It's up a bit from the engine number, just below the driver side head.

Just look at the top left front of the engine and see if there is a little bullseye/ring cast into the block. If so, it is an LS1 block.
