Default Best Turbo For LQ4 T56 S2000 build?

Hey Guys,

Looking to order my turbocharger within the next week or so and i just want to make sure im getting the right one. I am building a Honda S2000 with a JY LQ4 and GTO T-56 and looking for approx 800whp all said and done. I have been in discussions with Martin @ Tick and his information has been amazing, but i just wanted to hear from others expirences before maing the plunge into the forced inducted world of LS engines.

Looking for a fun highway car, this will not be drag raced ever, just a weekend toy that hauls some ***. I have a cobra 8.8 rear end with 3.73 gears, car will weigh in at approx 3000lbs all said and done. I will be using a Martin spec'd cam as well as a full Brian Tooley valve train upgrade with SLR lifters. Hoping to have a 7000rpm shift point (my engine is a 2005)

My turbo choices are as followed:

FI S475 cast T6 1.10a/r 92mm turbine W/ race cover
FI S475 cast T6 1.32a/r 96mm turbine W/ race cover
FI S476 cast T6 1.10a/r 92mm turbine W/ race cover
FI S476R Billet T6 1.32a/r 96mm turbine W/ race cover

Do you feel billet is worth the extra money for my goal of 800whp? is a 96mm turbine wheel to large for a stick shift car?

Thanks so much for your time!

I'm by no means an authority on turbos around here, but I would think a T4 would be better suited for a manual trans. When I had a T56 behind my LQ4, I wanted my Precision 7675 to spool quicker. A 4L80e fixed that, but I can't imagine a T56 being very fun with a T6 unless you're talking about long high gear pulls on the highway.

Im trying to stay T6 to avoid the additional costs of the T4 housing. The old honda motor that i took out made 700whp on a 2.0L with a T4 S363, im pretty sure a T6 on a 6.0L will be more than okay lol.

Yup T6 is the way to go for you IMO. A billet race cover is a good choice even though you can make that power with a cast wheel with no issues. Gotta love the price on those cast wheels for how much power they been proven to.

I think the FI S475 cast T6 1.10a/r 92mm turbine will get the job done, would be nice to know the cam specs and that way it can be easier to help you out with the turbo. Im sure Martin will tell you easily what turbo will be the best for your setup.

Im also utilizing a LQ4 with a built F-body T56 in my S6000 build and have considered going S475 on several occasions. Mind PM'ing me which method you used to mount the diff? or did you just pay up and buy the fullblown motorsports kit?!?

I did buy the FullBlown brackets, stupid price for them, but it saves the hassle and time of fitting it into the car, i have enough custom fabrication going on with it haha
