I need to order a set of 4 tires, looking for personal opinions. I. Not partial to any brands really, just real life experiences.
Thanks!

I love my sumitomo htz 3's No joke some of the best tires I have ran and they are cheap! Got all four shipped to me for 640$ off tire rack. Plus 70$ for walmart to mount them. My pudding proof of them is my g-meter. I hit 1.15 with these tires at the track before the really slide. I run 275 40 out back and 265 40 up front.

Right now i have 245z all around but the first set was staggard, f-245/r-275 which i realize now was a better setup for this car

Continental DW or DWS. I have the DW's staggered 275's in the rear. I got them on close out from tire rack two years ago for $145/ea and will get another set regardless of price when they finally wear out.

Agree with DMM...however, I only have my opinion based off of DW's and BFG KDW's. The BFG's are the loudest tire I've ever run on any vehicle. They lasted me 7K. The DW's have about 5k on them, half way to wear bars.

My first set of Ventus v12s lasted me 12,000 miles with a autox everymonth (my last set lasted me 5000 miles with a full year of autox... K think they would easily have gone 25k+ miles without all the Autox events.
There are too many good tires under 1k to consider spending more. Heck I just bought 4 BFG Rivals for ~$800...

I just picked up some Michelin Pilot Super Sports from ebay/discount tire direct, I can give you my impression in a couple of days. I did a lot of research and they seem to have the best reviews. I was gonna go with the Nitto Invo but decided with the PSS. I'm in Washington so hopefully they will hold up with the weather
I had the V12 but they are pretty bald now and I didn't think they gripped that great imo. I got the PSS on ebay for 900 shipped (they had a 5% discount and you get ebay bucks) tire direct doesn't seem that great when you have to pay for shipping

I have a little over 20k on The Conti DW on my V and my wife's G8. I'll probably get 40k on the G8. 25-30k on the Rear of the V. More on the front. They do decent for straight line traction, great in rain, but a little soft on turns. They got a little noisy though. If both cars are quiet then it's noticeable, but with cutouts open on the V I don't notice it.
The stock PS2 were nice while I had them. I think the DW handle the cold weather better, but I gave up a degree of crisp handling. Michelin likes them more than I do, things are pricey. All 4 got knots in the sidewall when I had them unmounted to powder coat my wheels. I was pissed because they were dang near new.
Tire rack has the DW and the S04 on sale right now. May be switching to S04 rears on the V.
I ran the NT05 on the rear of my 2000 SS. They handled well, but lacked in straight line traction for that car. To be fair, so did bias ply ET streets. It took softer M&H cheaters to get decent traction. It was a 408/M6 combo so no street tire had a chance. The 555r did better than the nt05. No shocker there with a DR. Got 20k out of the 555r too. Drove the 555r daily and they did surprisingly well in the north texas winter. They handled some light snow duty and all the rain until they got low on tread depth.

Right now I'm leaning towards Nitto Invos. I've read of good treadwear in the 30k range and comfortable/quiet and sticky. I'm waiting to hear back on how much they weigh in 255/45. There's a lot of good tires out there. My other considering is the Conti DW, it is the lightest tire in that size @ 26lbs according to tirerack.

I haven't had the invos, but one thing I kept reading when doing research is the invos are a good street tire but are really soft in the cornering and that was the deal breaker for me. I'm not race car driver but I do like fun driving, one thing I felt with my Hankooks the *** end was gonna come out in hard corners.
Hopefully the super sports are worth the extra money with longer thread life and performance. Some of it might be getting use to a rwd car with power, but it just never seemed right.
How much difference does a couple lb lighter tire actually make?

If you can go a little more than $1k... Hankook RS3. I love em. I had then in my last car. I wanted to get some for the V but alas... Had to spend money elsewhere. Next time though, for sure.
My last car was a FWD 350whp turbo 4banger, didn't rotate the tires, fronts lasted +/-15k, rears 20k... 3/4 track days per set mixed in there. Great tires.
