Default 3rd gen 9'' in a 4th gen

I bought a 85 Trans Am with a built 9'', its suppose to be stock length
If so will this be any shorter than a 4th gen rear?
I know I will have to change my BS streetlites bc backspacing will be different but at least they will be cheaper!
I was hoping it would be narrower bc then I could run Deep Dish wheels
Thanks

I believe if i remember correctly from reading one time that a 9" pulled from a stock car it came with needs to be customized to fit a fbody. There is a thread on here about it i cant remember if it was a 8.8 or 9".

4th gen rear is a direct bolt in to a 3rd gen, but it is 2" longer than the 3rd gen rear.
