Need In-Tank Fuel Pump Help - Dual Pump Pickups
I just put a 416 with a 2.9L Whipple in my 2003 3/4 ton Suburban. Pulled the pump today to swap in a Walbro 400 but have a dilemma. The stock pump has dual pickups. One goes to a sock that picks up fuel inside the bucket. The second pickup has a grommet that fits in a port at the bottom of the bucket which has an external sock that pulls fuel directly from the tank.
I need ideas on how to deal with this since I can't seem to find another Walbro with dual pickups. Actually, this is the first OEM pump I have seen that didn't have a single pickup. Since I 4x4 frequently on inclines, I need to keep a functioning bucket so I don't run dry. A bolt-on sump really won't work well because of ground clearance issues. Hopefully some of you pros will suggest a simple fix.
