Default First time poster: Motor build list, opinions appreciated! twin 70mm 6.0

2004 6.0
Fully ported 317 heads
Forged manley rotating assembly, 8.5 to 1 (still debating on stroker crank)
Two 70mm On3 Turbos
probably cheapie wastegates possibly with an electronic boost controller
Upside down face truck manifolds (debating on making headers)
Lunati custom cam, Not exactly sure on the specs yet but right around .600 lift
most likely Pro flo XT intake matching throttle body
80lb injectors
boost regulated fuel psi regulator

All infront of a 2000 camaro t56 The car currently has a 9 inch with 4.11s weighed 3000lbs before the roll cage and ladder bars
going in my 70 camaro. I would appreciate any feed back, maybe some places I am over zealous or maybe to small in others I'm new to boost, and fuel injection as well. Horse power goal is around 6-7 on pump gas with around 1000 potential on race gas and full boost We have the long block and turbos minus the cam which will be ground very soon. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

I would personally want more compression than 8.5 to 1. Somewhere around 9.5 to 1 would be better. Also you will want to change the rear gear to maybe a 3.42 or a lower numerically ratio. Other than that it looks to be a solid build

Flat top pistons for 10-10.5 to 1 will be fine for 6-8lbs on 93 octane. Turbos that large combined with manual Trans will be very lazy. Make up for slow spooling with higher compression.

Its funny because you hear some people say 9.5:1 is not low enough for pump gas and then you have people telling you 10-10.5.... I have a street car 370ci with twin t61's and i run 9.1:1 on pump gas. Depends on what your going to use the car for but i would never run compression in the 10's if you plan on running any serious boost numbers. Just my 2cents

4000 miles in 4 months. Twin 6262 Precisions on 370 stock block stock crank, flat top shelf wisecos, ls9 gaskets. Race on pump E85 have put plenty of street miles on 93 and street pulls on 7# springs. Crusty Nova, do what you want twin 70's, 6-sp on 370 will be laggy, low compression will make it worse.

That would mean a lot more to me if you said 4 years instead of 4 months.. One batch of bad pump gas and boom goes the dynomite. But your right do what you want. For my build and piece of mind i lowered the compression. At the end of the day its all up to you. I have a small collection of connecting rods that sit on my desk at home, serves as a constant reminder. Im past the days of seeing how much i can get out of stock parts and pushing the envelope.. Maybe im getting old but this motor is all forged and ready for some proper power. Remember OP you can lower the compression a lot easier than raising it. Good luck

I would be interested to see some pictures once you get your setup running, as I have been thinking of adding some boost to my 1976 Trans Am. I haven't seen many people with the LSx motor swaps with turbos, so I am curious what you do for the manifolds.

I run the Twin ON3 70mm's in my 3720lbs Chevelle with a 370 forged internals, 3.42 and runs awesome on street and the track. Actually debating to buy another set and upgrade to the .81 AR.

We were really debating on the cr as well. 9.5 sounds good to me as well. Thank you for the prompt help all. I thought 4.11s might screw up the combo as they were for my plans before I went coo coo and decided to turbo. Wicked 69 before I joined the site I read about your success with these turbos which is actually what inspired me to go with these. We currently have the .68 ar ordered. Would there be a better ar from on3?

Cool. I said .81 but they come in .68 and 1.0. Mine is forged and 8.4 compression. My cam is set to peak right at 7k so I am going to try the 1.0's. If they don't perform better I can always throw my old set back on. At $299 each you just can't beat that. Insane price. They came well packaged and no play that I could feel. Mine has lasted well over a year and 25lbs peak boost pulls.

I work (part time) for a local machine shop building alcohol BBCs we send the turbo specs to lunati and we are finishing up a cam, 25psi is about the most we expect to see as well as 7000 so I'll probably stick with the .68s. can change them out down the road. The owner of the shop told me he became a dealer for them so maybe we can get a deal on a set later too. This car will see mostly street but Ive been known to have a bit of a heavy foot, as far as exhaust ive heard that turbos will quiet it up quite a bit. Is just a down pipe maybe 2.5-3 feet long adequate? I ran a 12-1 sbc with 4.88s open headers for a while So i'm used to some volume.
