Default Parking lights always on/won't turn off

I am in the process of doing an ls1 swap in my 79 camaro. I hooked up all the factory wiring back to the motor. When I connect the battery the parkng lights are constantly on no matter what position the ignition or the light switch is in. Most everything is working, except the starter (no clicks or anything) and the heating blower. Here is what I connected. Battery + to the large stud on the starter along with the larger wire on the starter harness. The smaller wire on the harness to the s terminal stud. Large red wire to the alternator along with a 2 wire connect that plugs into the bottom of the alternator. The ground cable from the battery is bolted to the engine block with ground straps going to both the body and frame. Battery is brand new.

Can anybody see what I am missing here??

Is your problem starting the engine or the lights or both?

What kind of harness are you using? Where is your purple starter wire connected?

I am using the stock 79 wiring harness. I do not have a purple starter wire. I have two red wires. One is larger than the other. I have the large one wired to the power terminal with the battery + and the small wire to the smaller terminal. With a voltmeter I show the small wire getting power when the ignitions is turned to start, just like it should. If I jump the two terminals the starter cranks. I must be loosing amps somewhere in the system.

I'm still not sure what is with the parking lights though.
