Default ls1 swapping into 99-04 mustang. Swap help needed!

Got everything mounted, but I have no electrical hooked up. I want to utilize the stock Ford gauges. How can I make this possible. Thanks!

use the stock FORD sending units on the LS engine. Those that will fit.. Ones that wont fit directly you can use adapters for. As for speedo and tach, I have no clue on those..

Tach can be run by the chevy computer but the speedo is run by the Ford computer so you would need both computers to work. Others have said you could swap the gauge cluster out for a 94-95 cluster which uses analog style gauges. I got half way through doing this and gave up and went with an Itellitronix digital unit.

Not really. Look at it this way. Everything you are doing now to get the vehicle up and running can be simplified by letting someone else do it, Right? But where is the fun for you and the sense of accomplishment for you in just passing it over to someone else?

For your instrumentation, you are forgetting about Dakota Digital. They have made digital dashboards for vehicles for quite a while. If you get the Dakota instrument cluster first, and then the oddball sensor or two that you would need that is not included, like the transmission unit for the speedometer, you can wire that in at the same time you are working on the other stuff.

Not that bad of a deal really. Just a little time and effort to get it wired in. And a lot more satisfying to know you did it yourself and have that sense of accomplishment. Plus the DD dashes just look bitchin in about any car. When they are off they are totally black. But when on they are just cool as hell. Plus, you get the accuracy of digital technology in your instrumentation, not just a stupid needle going to a central point and hanging there.

I looked on the website and don't see on specific to the year of your car, but you can make one from the individual gauges they offer. Here is a link to the webpage.

I just read through this one and it looks cool as hell.. It is the stupid needle stuff that I just complained about but it is actual reading displayed, not an on/off type.

read the specs on it..

You ca also check out Bullydog's Watchdog monitor. I am running this unit for now until I finish up my dash. Just fyi, the Watchdog unit is quite small but it is a plug and play set up that has many features.

If you still want to run stock gauges you can, it's not hard, makes for a great sleeper. I have an LS engine in my 90' model, using all stock gauges. (No speedometer yet) I used a ford temp sending unit, put it on the lathe, turned it down to the correct size for a chevy temp gauge and then threaded it. Threaded it into the pass side head and ran the wire directly to the gauge. Works great! For the oil pressure gauge I tapped the port above the oil filter and put the stock ford sending unit on it. Ran the wire up to the gauge. Voltmeter, just ran it to the same place you would on the ford system. Fuel gauge was easy... No change. The tach was a little more complicated, but still easy. Ran the wire for the tach driver from the PCM of the chevy computer to the back of the ford tach, then using HP tuners adjusted the tach output to match the actual RPM's. It's within 100 rpm. The only think I can figure for the speedometer is the cable X box. But that damn thing is so expensive I might as well buy a new tail shaft for my 4L80e and put a normal speedometer cable in there. Hope that helps a little. Let me know if you need clarification.

what i did i used what i had, hooked my chevy harness to the ford harness. found what was 12v switched and 12v batt. easy.

but i don't have a the gauges working. lol I'm lazy and i can tell how fast I'm going and can here the motor.

but i was told you can get the speedo to work from a abs sensor off the front wheel. tach can be had with the dakota digital converter box.

or you can buy this, http://www.ultra-gauge.com/ultragauge/
for 60$ you can't go wrong. tells you everything you'll need to know and show codes and stuff!
