Question Details about swapping 03/04 Cobra .79 and .63 gears into our T56?

Is it just a matter of finding a place from where to order the tranny gears and having my tranny guy do the swap?

I have a D&D Viper reinforced T56 with stock ratios that's ran perfect for years but I wanna do the 5th and 6th swap.

Thanks!

1993 M29 and M28 have 5th and 6th ratios of .80 and .62. I believe you need just the gears and matching 5/6 countershaft.

I read about the M28/M29 but didn't see it as a viable option for my needs.

I'd rather rebuild/upgrade my existing 5th and 6th since the rest of my tranny has the upgraded parts to handle twice the torque of an M28/M29.

Depends what mainshaft you have; If it has a one-piece 5-6 driven gear, then it's a no-go on those ratios with production parts.

M28/M29 5th/6th would make 5th taller and 6th shorter, but might not suit your goals.

Like jmd said, it depends on your shaft. I'd say you probably have the Viper mainshaft which is designed like the factory f-body shaft with a press-fit area along with a small splined area. To do the Cobra 5th and 6th which has a 2 piece mainshaft gear you will need to switch the mainshaft out for an Aston Martin shaft that is fully splined in the 5th and 6th area like the Cobra was originally.

Great info here.

From where could I order the Aston mainshaft?

Thanks guys!
