Destroked 6.0L spins to 8000 rpm and makes 811 whp
When you've got nearly 8000 rpm to play with, you can make a lot of boost and a ton of power from small cubes! That’s exactly what this destroked 6.0L with a 4.8 crank arriving at 332 cubic inches of high-rpm LS power does! The short-stroke motor makes 811 hp and 679 lb-ft at the tires on just 15 psi through a face-plated T56. Other motor details include LS3 heads and a PT8847 turbo.
Listen to this thing spin to nearly 8000 rpm! And who said only the over-head-cam motors can turn high rpm?

Thanks guys! It's a stock 4.8 crank, Callies Compstar SBC 6.300" rods, and used Diamond pistons out of a blown up road race engine.
I didn't have any stock 4.8 rods sitting around, and didn't feel like taking a gamble with stock powdered metal at 8k and 1200+HP!
It's getting new head studs, heads, cometic gaskets and a new cam for next season. 30psi should be fun!

maybe I'm the only one that is thinking this, but whats the point? Seems like a lot of excess work to get 800 rwhp. A stock 6.0l and 7-8psi is almost worth 700. Some forged internals and some meth is certainly worth over 800rwhp.

Obviously I know a stock engine can also make this horsepower, it's been done multiple times. I built this particular engine from extra parts sitting in my garage (ie: free parts), with the intent of making 1200+hp and spinning 8000rpm, without having to worry about the shortblock blowing apart. The added reliability benefits of a shorter stroke crankshaft were also a factor in my decision.
It's an efficient engine for how little I have into it, as the horsepower numbers it makes show. You don't often see 330 cube engines making 800rwhp on only 15psi. I'm just bummed I didn't get the chance to turn it up last year to show it's full potential. The fact that it's something different from the norm is another thing I enjoy, it gets people talking and thinking.
You don't have to like it! I'll just be cruising around next season with my little 332 getting 28mpg on the highway, and making 1250rwhp, that's all.

Happy to hear! I'm going to miss this setup, it was a good sleeper! I loved the fact that you couldn't even hear the turbo until you got on it. Also 85% of the people walking by looking at it with the hood up didn't realize it had a turbo. If it wasn't for the shiny sheetmetal intake reeling people in, it could've been easily been mistaken for your average h/c LS1.
Maybe so. How is this setup "a lot of excess work" versus your proposed forged internal 6.0? Bolting a stock, smaller stroke crankshaft in my engine, and ordering 6.300" rods instead of your typical 6.125" is more work?

Any plans for meth / e85?
