My V1 is in some serious need for tires, my buddy works at a tire shop and he suggested Nitto Nt555 tires. I plan on doing 275/40 rear and 245/45 front regardless which ones I pick. I told him that I've been reading that tires don't last long on the V's and he said that the Nt555's should be a great summer tire and still last 25k miles.

So I figured I would ask you guys if anyone has had experience with this tire.

im running nt05's...great tire but they didnt last 10k and i dont do burnouts or none of that smoke show crap. i just beat her and try to keep traction lol

I haven't used them on the V but did have 3 or 4 sets of 555s on my old Cobra. Overall not a bad tire but also not the absolute stickiest or highest performance compared to a Michelin or something top-notch but I didn't have any complaints. I was always happy with them as evidenced by the fact I kept buying them. They're a pretty comfortable ride as the sidewalls aren't super-stiff IMHO and I probably did get 20k out of them. As all Nittos go they run a bit narrow in their listed sizes.

I was running a 265/35/18 and a 285/35/18 on that car FWIW

I too don't do burn outs or anything else, hell I hardly hit it in first gear as the extreme wheel hop scares me, I'm over breaking cars and want this one to last. But at the same time I do want a nice tire for when I do decide to get on it through all the gears.

I know people have had a lot of luck with the Nt555's on other applications besides the V, but haven't been able to find any feed back from people using them on a V. And I was un aware that they run small. Do you suggest 285/40 for the rear and 255/45 for the front?

Or suggest any other tires that work well on these cars as far as being sticky and longer lasting with a similar price?

I have them on my V now , 275/40/18 Rear.
Not too impressed by them, the cheap Chinese tire that came on the car when I bought it gripped just as good. But noise, stiffness, wear they seem decent.
Next tire im changing up tho...

IdriveaV, can you estimate about how much life you'll get out of them? And any clue what you'll be going to next? What size do you have on the front?

if you are looking for a performance tire with tread life Michelin PSS is it. Most other true summer tires focus on grip and performance, not tread life. I'm running NT05s and I like them. After 4 track days i still think they like they have good life in them.

I had nt05 on my other v1 and dragged the car got 12.7 ot of her w intake and cat back they stick and I didn't have wheel hop w the nt05 launched at 4500 and banging gears

I had nt555 275 40 18 in the rear. They are pretty sticky when you heat them up. I was able to cut a 1.98 60ft time in my v. Not impressive but also not bad. With some burnouts here and there. Couple donuts and about 12 track passes with warming them uo for each pass. They lasted me 12k miles. Also all my other tires lasted less than these with no track passes.

I run them on my V 275/40 rear 245/45 front. I love em. They grip real well plus I got them for a deal. I researched them before I purchased and they do last less than most tires and also arnt the greatest tire in the rain but I feel our stability control makes up for it.

I have exactly that. Nitto 555's in a 245/45 front and a 275/40 in the rear. Been on the car for the past year. Zero issues. Nice and quiet tire. They run good on the highway and are decent in the rain. They have been on the car for about 9k miles and still look new. No burnouts and no dragstrip for me.

I think I am gonna lean towards the nt555's. If they lasted 20k I'd be really happy. I'm gonna get 4 tires, 275/40 and 245/45, and all 4 tire pressure sensors (mine are bad) for $804 installed plus tax.

I just don't want to be changing the tires every year and a half

They were 265 40 and they lasted like 10k miles with over 200 passes

I picked up he Continential Extreem Contact DW's when I had the wheels fixed and painted recently. Great grip. They are so much harder to break free than those crap Toyo's. Not sure about tire life, but honestly if I was worried about tire life I would not have bought a V. Too much fun wearing tires out.

Very happy with the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3's so far... as far as Nitto's go I almost got Nitto Invo's and everyone who has had them and the 555 seems to prefer the Invo.

I like the Invo's but one thing that I have seen everyone complain about is tread life

I have Nitto 555 245/40/18 all the way around. They are a lower profile (look better and handles better) and a little wider than the stock tire size. Great tire. Can't go wrong with them. Get an alignment while you are at it.

I bought the Nitto 555's in the spring. I'm running 285/40/18 (Rear) & 275/35/18 (Front). They look nice, quiet and seem to last a long time. After 10k spirited driving miles they still look like new. Performance wise I would consider them average at best. I can spin 285's way to easy and I consider these tires below average in the rain. *** end slides around. I got a great deal so I'm pleased but I will not purchase these again.

Toyo Proxes R1R's were great for me, great compound and handling, not so great tire life.
