Default LS3 intake - Why swap it out?

I see a lot of people selling LS3 intakes. Why are people swapping them out for aftermarket pieces? Are they really that bad? The price of the FAST stuff is stupid expensive.

109 views but no opinions? Can anyone tell me why they think they need to spend $1000 on an aftermarket intake?

Nothing wrong with the ls3 intake , gm has a 515 horse stock ls3 using it , I think most swap it for the "bling" , great for those of us needing one for low clearance hoods useing a truck motor .

Yeah a lot of LS3 intakes popping up for sale. I just purchased one myself. I'm not go spend a 1000 bucks for 15 horsepower

I think a lot of people that get rid of the stock manifold are running more displacement or just want that little bit of extra power. Not worth it in my opinion.

Yep^. On bigger cube builds the FAST is worthwhile. Its still worth power on stock cubes, as said 10-15hp or so. Theres threads on here with back to back dyno tests of stock vs FAST.

We have dynod them back to back and havent seen any power increase. I'm a big fan of Fast intakes but the ls3 version fails to improve over the ls3

The LS3 intake I purchased was from a car that was being fitted with a supercharger. Otherwise I don't know as there is nothing at this time that is much better on the market.

Posibly the Nelson intake if an when it comes out.

I got mine from a dealer that installs superchargers. A bit under $350 shipped for the intake, rails, injectors, gaskets and cover in what appeared to be undriven condition.

If I could do it again, I would've left my LS3 ported intake with the 90TB. I did buy my fast 102/102 in 09 and was one of the first batches. I got all into the wow that's big yeah its for me but should've stuck with my ported LS3. If I recall it was worth about 10-15rhp. I did a elec WP and 25% pulley, if I recall it was all 22whp.

Thing is now, I wouldn't spend that much coin for just 22 whp.

Live learn...but money was easier a few yrs ago...

I sell a TON of Vic Jrs for the LS3, so that explains some of people taking them off.
