Default TT 5.3L Vega Wagon

Hey there everyone I am back to work on my Vega finally. I am trying to get it going by this spring. I have an aluminum 5.3 with a pair of 57mm turbos and Holley HP EFI computer. I just bought the waste gates, intercooler, radiator, exhaust and lots of small stuff. I am also going to order a powerglide trans and converter form PTC.

I have a quick question about cams for this engine. I was going to go aftermarket but don't think that is in the budget anymore. I would like to run the ls6 cam but haven't been able to find one I felt comfortable with. I have also read about people having good luck with the ls9 cam.

Is it possible to use the ls9 cam in my engine with the 799 cathedral port heads? If I use it I wont have to change the timing set and all right now which will also help.

I am not trying to set any records or make stupid power with this car just 400-500 rear wheel will be perfect. Just want a really fun car I can run down the track with and still beat around town.

Sorry for the long post and Thank you for all the help.

Very cool car! Yes you can use the ls9 cam (58x) in your motor. L33 (05-07 classics) are gen 3 24x tooth, then with the body style change of 07 they were all 58x tooth which could be 4 aluminum blocks (LH6, LH8, LH9 and LC9). All versions have Active Fuel Management except for the LH8, LH9, LMF.

Bad *** looking vega. I like the simple placement of the turbo's off the manifolds.

Thank you all so much for the encouraging words. I don't really know on the exterior yet. I wanted to paint it gm stone grey but will probably run it in primer for a little while. I want to get it running and driving first. Then I will work on making it look good.

That's a pretty badass lookin wagon. I don't see too many of those around.

Definitely different, I especially like how it's being built in a barn dirt floor and all.
