Default Project: Blue Devil

Well it's about time I start a build thread

I own this chevelle since 14yrs old, my dad purchased it for me and made me get a job to pay him back. I've been working my *** off ever since.

It was fast car with multiple Big Block thru the years, the last setup was a 468bbc, 3500 stall 400trans, 12bolt with 3.73s and was planning for a small plate kit. BUT November 2011 I came home one night to find my house in a blazing fire with my chevelle in the car port. It was to late everything was lost.

On the bright side, I had great insurance and no one was hurt. So after a little time to reorganize my life. I started to rebuild the chevelle, full frame off restoration leaning more toward protouring and preparing for track use.
I post some of the post fire pictures so you guys know how this started.

So the car was stripped down to am empty roller and taken to media blasting.
The body was removed and the frame was taken back for blasting also. I found a company HPI Customs that made an awesome frame kit and thats where the foundation started.

I'm suprised you didn't go with the 70mm turbos. Everything on your setup is capable of far more than those 61mm turbos, and the 70s weren't much higher in price.

Why the low stall, btw? Something you already had around or is there a particular reason. I'm not saying you need a 4000 stall, but I would have went probably 2800-3400.

Lately I got the engine in and started on the hot side. I need to install the steering column and brake booster before I go any futher with the exhaust.

The car is being setup for autocrossing and long drives, a future powertour long hauler. The 70s were the same price but the 61s spec out closer to the 6265s I really wanted. 61.5 intake/64.5 exhaust. At only $300 each I can afford to use them as an experiment. Then I'll know what I really need in the future. This isn't a drag car by any means, but with slicks I have hopes of pushing all 3900lbs of her to 10.0s maybe 9.99 if im lucky.

nice build-what are you using for engine control-the Holley Dom. will control engine and trans
I used the HP, mainly because it was a deal, but then I had to get a controller for the trans when I switched to the 80E

I going to use a Holley Dominator, its only $500 difference from a HP and TCI EZ controller. Christmas slowed down my progress for couple weeks but I've got plenty to do before a purchase the Dominator setup.

Awesome build. Should be a fun to drive . Im also going to go with the holley efi setup I was torn between buying the holley hp setup and a separate controller but like you said only about $500 difference between the hp and controller and just the dominator. Dominator will be the way to go for me its just hard to pay $3000 for a efi setup but I think its the way to go.

In the long run its cheaper, Plus boost controller and water/meth all in one. I'll just get a cheap laptop to leave in the car, its cheaper than holley's display.

I got some trim work done on the back end last night, added a little carbon fiber and a 5th gen SS emblem.

Finally making some progress after waiting for more parts to arrive. Had to swap the factory steering shaft joints and D shaft to gain clearance and still had to modify the header.

I got the a/c condenser and intercooler mounted and started on the cold side piping. Now just waiting on a RPS bov and some 3" couplers.

How close is too close ???

After the headers are wrapped with DEI Titanium wrap the P/S reservoir will most likely be touching the wrap. Will to last ? Or is there a remote reservoir option ?
