I believe the early truck rails were return style. If your rail has a return, you do not need the vette filter. If it is returnless, you'll need to run the vette filter.

Inlet is 3/8". Outlets are 3/8" feed and 5/16" return. All are standard GM quick-connect fittings.

If your fuel rail has only one line going to it (driver side) it is return less use the vette filter, if it has two lines, the regulator is built in to the rail. I'm pretty sure they are interchangeable, but I know on the return less its 3/8 for supply/ feed and 5/16 for return. Carquest or napa will have the fittings you need to connect to your sending unit. You may need a "fuel line repair piece( quick connect both ends 1' long pipe)"and a compression fitting but can use stock fittings after that.
