Default lunati 408 stroker notch block/#8 piston?

my 1st post here, long time reader

I have a Z06 and am doing a 408 stroker with:
6.0 ironblock (new gm surplus $475)
lunati EA035-408 stroker kit with lunati 4.00" crank, lunati 6.125 rods and lunati pistons

I found somewhere to buy the stroker kit for $3175 and the block for $475 which puts me at $3,650 plus machining (bore)
I should be able to get machining and all parts for the short block for $4k or under.

After reading a post however I have gotten scared. I see that it said th block will need notched for rod bolt clearance, and the #8 piston will need notched for reluctor wheel clearance
are these big deals, or easy for an engine builder?

sure would be nice if a sponsor could do a 408 short block for under $4,500...

I would never put an iron block into a z06 vette you are going to screw up the balance and handling of the whole car just to save 1000 dollars!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stroke your ls6 block with the lunati kit you have!!! Never add an iron block unless all your going to do is straight line acceleration.

I removed some stuff and headers which should offset the weight.

that will help but you have to realize your adding 100 pounds. I would look into tubular a arms and k member which will shave around 40 pounds I think you should be fine. Good luck.

Let me help you out.
Well nevermind looks like you have already found what you were looking for in the sponcer section. For those of you wondering the same thing.

Here is the short block pricing: 347 or 6.0 370 cheap street, 2500
382 or 6.0 408 stroker with callies crank , 4219

Thats 200 off the regular price. Who wants to step up to the plate ?
