Default Help me put together a parts list

Well iv been waiting for a year since I put together my car to setup a turbo kit for it, and the time as finally come.

Its a 3rd gen firebird formula with a 5.3l swap, "built" 4l60E w/ vig 3200 stall.

little about the car..

-3.42 gears
-234/228 .576/.571 113
-706 heads, bowl blend rocker hump delete...
-patriot golds
-ls1 intake/tb
-ebay head studs

I have a turbo sitting that is brand new.. I believe its a on3 turbo but with a .81 AR exhaust housing.

My goals are safe 600 to the tires because I drive it every day.

Im wondering how big of a downpipe I should put on the car, I want to do either 3, 3 1/2 or 4 in down with a cut-out near the fender then take the rest out back.

Also curious how big the hot side pipe should be, I am going to be using the truck manifolds with V bands welded on the ends.

Finally, should I upgrade to a ls6 or a fast90? I was trying to score a cheap ls2 intake to port but am not having much luck.. And what, if any intercooler should I be looking at? I put this car together because I enjoyed demahs videos so much, So I was picking out alot of parts from his "commonly bought items" thread.. But if you have any improvements to suggest id be happy to hear them.

Thanks

2.5 is the biggest hotside you should be thinking about.

As far as downpipe, 3" will work fine but there might be a few more horsepower in going up to the 4". At 600hp its not really needed but its not going to hurt.

No need to upgrade the intake yet.

As far as intercooler, measure how much room you have to mount one and get the biggest one you can.

I still have the factory ls1 intake making over 800 on 20psi. Intake is fine. Ebay intercoolers are great. 150 bucks or so for the 24x12x4" core one. CXRacing.

Thanks guys, in that case I will probably do 3in downpipe on the car to save some money and ground clearance.

Thats a good price on the intercooler indeed, I think I will probably opt for one and look for the 91-92 front bumper at the same time to get more air flow to it.

One of my friends was a bit skeptical of the ebay wastegate and told me to rethink that decision.. Im on the fence, Thoughts on that?

A lot of the newer eBay wastegates are almost exact clones of some of the top of the line wastegates. A lot of the older ones give them a bed reputation for failing. The Chinese might be a little behind on everything, but they eventually get on the same page.

However, if you can find a used Tial or Turbosmart.. etc for a decent price, there is no reason not to get one. But if you're on a budget and don't plan to make outrageous power, the ebay gates will hold up fine. Just don't try to stuff a 26 lb spring in them lol.
