Front axle is a high pinion 30 from a Cherokee, rear is an 8.8 from a Ford Explorer.
Trans will be an SM465 I'm guessing from an old Blazer, transfer case is an Atlas II 4.3:1
Full size axles are in the long term plan.

2004 GMC Envoy XL, 5.3L "LM4", motor has 90,000 miles and a 3 month warranty.
Front of the water pump bolt to the back of the block is 27", the 2.5L is 24"
The throttle body and fuel rail are the newer style, I'll be switching to cable throttle and returnless fuel rail.
Still need the alternator, power steering pump, intake plenum which has the mounts for the throttle body and fuel rail, wiring harness, computer, and who knows what else.
Ended up finding an oil pan on e-bay.

Any recommendations on maintenance while I've got it out?

This is the stock exhaust manifold.

This was form a 99 Corvette. Hoping to get some better clearance with these.

Happy New Year.

Also.
Planning on using a 2002 1500 as a donor for the computer, wiring harness, cable throttle body, returnless fuel rail, and I guess I'll need the intake plenum to mount the TB.
Should I block off EGR ports?
Sending the computer out for programing, what specifically would need redone?
-Eliminate VATS
-Manual transmission
-VIN# ?
-can rear O2 be deleted, I can run front two in C5 header?
-VSS tone ring will be in output shaft of transfer case because it's manual?

Found my thread, it walked off on me...

Another question for you guys/gals. The car LS motors seem to have a fuel rail with no return, the trucks seem to have a return (in what little I've seen). Does anyone know if a fuel rail from a C5 vette will fit a 5.3L, or would I need to take the whole intake plenum?
Or does anyone know of a 5.3L truck motor that has a return-less fuel rail?

I think 04+ trucks were returnless. why do you want returnless?

Why don't you fully rebuild it while the motor is out?

Ease of install. It's become a pain to track that down though, so at this point it's easier to just run the return line.

Money. What all should be rebuilt on a 93,000 mile motor?

And the C5 headers don't look like they were the best choice.

The trans has to move down about 2" from here.

Won't be able to clock the Atlas flat cause this is the driver's footwell. Trans comes down, case will have to be clocked down. Probably still cutting the floor.
Still working out the crossmember though.

The signs to block the holes off in the fire wall is a nice touch, I like it

Crossmember done, driveline is mounted.

Pulled it all back out and burned home all the mounts.
Sprayed the frame & firewall black, covering my sweet heater core patch panels...

Got this.

Started doing this kinda stuff.

I used block hugger headers on my LS6/4L60e in my 98 Wrangler. Left side around and in front of the pan. Two to one merge on the right side. 3" all the way thru the tail pipe.

Apparently this block isn't drilled for a dipstick. Neither is my spendy new oil pan. Awesome. So I might just not run one. That seems like a not great idea though.

With a little massaging, the pacesetter headers I have will work.
The Envoy headers looked great, tons of clearance, BUT the drivers side was right where the clutch slave cylinder needs to be. Shame. They would have been nice.
The Corvette ones weren't even close, they must have different motor mounts.

I pulled everything back out, did the final welding, mounted the flywheel/clutch, and set it all back in (with some of the wiring started).

^Thanks.

Anyone know if the oil level sender in the pan just an open/close contact?
I think I'm going to just skip the dipstick (keep the oil in the motor when I flip this) and run a dummy light off that pan sensor.
Thoughts?

Awesome build, just finishing this same swap in a CJ7.
I went with a camero oil pan, but ran a dipstick. Also ran factory Trans dipstick.

I just stuffed an LQ9 in my scrambler, why are you scared of DBW? its so nice not to have to deal with a stupid throttle cable.

I'm picking a buddy's '00 Silverado for the wiring/ECU and accessories and they are cable throttle, only the block is '04 Envoy. I'm just switching the throttle bodys so I can use what I got.
