That is about what my 383" has. Make sure you check your valve-to-piston clearance!!

With the stock PCM you will be using most if not all of the ~7-7.2k RPM you have available with a 252/256 cam - just something to keep in mind!

I would double check with Lloyd before making any changes, since he will know all the specifics on the heads you have and will be the most informed to suggest the proper cam.

What was your 60' times like? You could probably spend the money elsewhere if you want to get your times down. Hows your suspension in the car? Auto or stick?

I guess some more info on the car would be handy. Stall size? Rear end/gears? Some weight reduction and a drag pack will probably get you there. Or you could always toss a bottle on the car and give it a 150 shot and let her eat

Has anybody watched your rear tires at launch to see if the tires slip at all?
You didn't mention the heads. How big are your intake ports? How big are your headers? Your running full exhaust?
It will need shifted at 7000-7100. No big deal. Your converter is too tight for that much cam. Mine liked 4400. Your 60's are terrible. There is well over a tenth available right there. At least two.

my heads and intake are the LE2s.and Im running the 1 3/4 pacesetter headers through a magnaflow catback exhaust.right now the shift points are set at 6500rpm.rev limiter set at 6800rpm.As far converter size that's what Yank recommended me to run.i didn't have no one to watch the launch.but i will be removing the sway bar when I go back to see did help my 60 ft time.

Sounds like you need to work on what you already have. It looks like you have the same cam I do and I've so far had a best of 1.48 60ft time and my race weight is heavy.

I take it you understand from all the responses that the last thing you should be thinking about right now is changing cams. Ed pretty much summed it up in post #9 above. Except that I think he was being very conservative saying at least 2 tenths on the table with all of that. I'd want to see the car in the 6.80 range before thinking the cam might be holding me back.
I'm pulling more weight down the track with just a 228 dur cam in a 350 and have been in the 6.90's, but (to Ed's points), I'm not handicapping it with exhaust, converter, gearing, shift points, tune,...etc. that aren't up to the task.

I understand you Pat,thats why i was on here trying to pick you fast guys brains.i think some more suspension work a good dyno tune and changing to a 4inch single exhaust would put me there.if any thing else you think I left out let me know.thanks.
