Stock 383?
A guy at work was asking me if I had gotten my stock crank machined from 3.48 to 3.75 to create a 383. I had never heard of that being possible or any of us doing that. Is it possible or is he wrong?

You cannot have your crankshaft resized larger. But you can make your lt1 a 383 by using a crankshaft and components from a mercury motors sbc style engine. That will only make it factory as far as using factory parts. No factory 383 lt1 was ever produced.

The crank can be offset ground to small journal size to gain stroke without welding wont get you 3.75 but can get longer than 3.48 but this would be trying very hard to find the hard way to do things and **** money into the wind. Crankshaft mods that extensive will endup costing much more than it is worth to weaken a stock crank like that vs. just buying a Scat forged unit.
