Quick cam question
Which springs is Safest with the TR 224 with .561/.561 with a 114 lsa would you guys recommend getting?
Will the 03+ Z06 Springs work with this cam?
Also, should i get the TR 224 w/ 114lsa cam or the 03+ Zo6 cam?
Which would be a better buy? I'm looking for good daily driving, reliability, CA traffic, and i dont want to have to change the springs every 24k+ miles
This is going into a 2002 Camaro SS M6

The TR224 outpowers the LS6 cam all across the powerband especially down low and in the midrange. Go for the TR224. LS6 valvesprings are not strong enough for this cam and you need a set of Comp 918's or Manleys at the minimum. Also for added insurance and peace of mind check out the Patriot or Crane dual valvesprings that will fit stock LS1 heads. I'm running C918s and after 4800 miles on them I've lost 14lbs seat pressure. New the 918s are 130lbs @ 1.8" installed height after 4800 miles mine read 116-118lbs @ 1.8". After finding this out I'm going to a dual spring setup on my new heads as I don't think these 918s will last 20K miles on a TR224 lobe.

i want the tr224 cam, but i dont want to swap out the springs every so many miles... i dont think thats worth worrying about when my springs are going to snap in half.
With a z06 cam i dont see this problem...

I really dont see the TR224 putting that much stress on the '918 springs. I certianly wouldnt look into getting a smaller cam for that reason. Like 99WS6LS1T/A said, I think its a great all around cam. Makes god power, yet is very streetable. I had this cam for a month or two. On a 114 with a semi quiet exhaust, the cam wasnt real obvious, drove like stock, and with out tuning, put down 372rwhp and 368rwtq on my little '98 with one of the flattest torque curves.......

Acutally, I had thr TR224 cam for about 2 months, then threw the TR230 cam (5.75 lift, XER lobes) on the same comp 918 springs I used with the TR224 and ran that for a few more months with more trips to 6,800 rpm than you could imagine (on both cams).....never had one single problem. Only reason they are not still on the car (besides the fact I got a new car) is because I went with a bigger cam that needed dual springs...

The SS is the new BeaSSt Had the Arctic98Z before. The TR224 should be a good nitrous cam. Some might tell you its not the optimal N2O cam, but it will still work just fine
