any of you guys know if x band is used anymore? specifically in big cities like austin, tx? my detector has a feature that can turn x band off so that you don't get false alarms, but i don't know if i should use it or not. thanks in advance

I have a Val 1 and the only time I see X band is on auto doors and some alarms. Even the stationairy "speed reading" setups you see around highway constuction areas operate on K or Ka band. Sure see a lot more of the instant on lazer guns these days

X band is the oldest and easiest to detect band so most law enforcement agencies dont use it. Most prefer Ka band. I took a trip down from Chicago to Little Rock and I did have the X band go off in some more rural areas of Southern Illinois and Missouri.
