I've done a couple LS foxes but always auto. I found a cool Fairmont wagon that's an original stick car.

Trying to figure out if T56 shifter ends up in right place or adapters to a 5 speed

A T56 with fbody tailshaft and shifter sits a little farther back using the swap kits but you can make it work. I saw one swap where a Cobra T56 tailshaft was swapped on and the shifter fit nicely in the fox chassis.

A T5, or Tremec 3550 / TKO can be done you need to search around the the bell housing to adapt and them make a clutch work.

You might consider adapting the 1997-2003 F150 hydraulic clutch set-up. The hydraulic line snaps right into the LS1 throw out bearing with no mods.

Its a shame theres no real budget stick trans option worth doing. If your going to do it just step to the t56, its cost lines up with TKO or the like and theres no sense bothering with a T5 behind an LS far as im concerned.
