Default 5.3 block

Anyone running a 5.3 bored to 3.9 and making decent power? (700-800rwhp)
Per my other post, I am building a LS1 for 770-800rwhp, and 13-15lbs boost, and have received lots of comments that a 5.3 bored out is too thin to hold the power.
Don't want to go to an Iron block, and just building something to cruise and play with. Not building a race car.
Thanks

I'm curious also. My LS1 aluminum block held up to 765 until the bearings went after 1k miles. Sure it was a builder problem though.

I've run a 5.3 bored to 3.9 for over 4 years with 20+ psi no problems. That being said the aluminum 5.7 should last at 700-800 hp. If it doesn't it aint the motors fault........its the builder or tuner.

That's great to hear. I will never run over 14-15lb (and maybe a little less then that) and it's not a track car.
I am being bombarded with guys telling me the bored 5.3 is too thin, and will crack with high hp and boost and I will HAVE to go with an iron block. I appreciate the advice, but I really don't want an iron block in a Vette if possible.

I thought the 5.3 over bored to a 5.7 had the exact same cylinder wall thickness as a LS1 since the bore spacings are identical.

They could be, Im really not sure of the specs. I have just received a tremendous amount of replies saying the aluminum bored 5.3 would crack, blow, etc. if I ran boost and big hp.

Thanks, That's good to hear
It will have good pistons, rods and rod bolts, so if the block holds, maybe it will be fine for the power I am trying to build.
