What makes V1s so slow in the 1/4?
Besides the wheel hop/rear end issues causing crappy 60 foot times and killing the E.T. Why are these things trapping so damn low? Even modded they have a hard time hitting even 120 it looks like.
Only thing I can guess at is the factory rear gear ratio. My F body with a 10 bolt trapped 119-121 every time at a low 12 with a nice set of heads and cam. Also had a 4:10. From what I am reading the Vs are going 112mph with similar combos and not a whole lot heavier.
I am not trying to be a dick about it I am just looking at buying one of these for a DD and I just don't want to spend the money on a building a motor and blower to be a terd.
I never plan on taking it to the track but I would like to roll race it and would like it at least comparable to a 120mph car from a roll.

I figured the soft bushings were a problem trying to put power down as well. Like I said I don't plan on taking it to the drag strip I do plan on roll racing it though. I figured from a roll it should be comparable to an F body. I was looking at trap speed as an indicator.

Not that I really know my *** from a hole in the ground but maybe its a combo of those things plus the fact that these cars seem to lose a lot of power between the crank and wheels. Most stock cars dyno around 325ish. Maybe the gear ratio n heavy fly wheel dont help, youll spin a lot in 1st n second n not pull as hard in 3rd n 4th.

Too much $$ up front for the car. If I can make 550 wheel in a V1 for under 25k I am still ahead of the game. I tried buying a couple V2s already I would just rather not have that kind of car payment. Over 40k for low mileage ones and I will probably take a hit on the car in a few years when they go below 30k. This V1 I don't see getting much cheaper then they are alreay. I will lose my *** on mods but that's the way it goes.
I think there is more hustle factor in a V1 as well. Everyone expects a V2 to be fast.

The gearing is really not the problem. 1st and 2nd are low enough. It's simply the inability to hook hard off the line. The first 60 ft really determine the trap speed in NA cars.
My setup is a fairly stock engine with longtubes and stock mufflers. It put down 370 at the wheels on a July day with a conservative tune. I get about 21.5 mpg with mixed driving. Not bad for a quick 4 dr DD.
If you can pick one up for cheap, go for it.

I should have been more specific in saying its a summer DD/street car. Definitely not going to be a drag car by any means but a fast toy is my goal. I just didn't want to be in a situation where it makes power and isn't fast.

I wouldn't say they're any slower than other cars with their weight and power. The V does not respond as well after mods on the dragstrip as other cars because the V's rearend/suspension will be overwhelmed with big amounts of power.
Stock V1's trap 106-110 which is faster than F-bodies which are only 50hp less and weight a lot less. Like others have said it is not a holeshot car, it'll never pull good 60' times. That means nothing on the street and I think it's a great DD if you like to be involved with driving a car. (6sp only, will buck you around a bit if you don't know how to drive, etc). Those who want and enjoy all the things that the V1 is will find it an awesome car. It's really not even that heavy by today's standards and handles awesome.

No its not heavy at all really even compared to an F body. It is a great platform to start with for a street car being such a nice car with a Ls powerplant/T56

I feel like it pulls pretty decent for what it is.
My car, with unknown headers, untuned, with busted rear bushings, pulled much harder than my stock 04 GTO from a roll.
Odd though, I didn't think my goat had much, if any wheel hop.
