Default Program PCM on the bench?

Might not be the correct section, but I'll start here.

I've completed my harness, so now have good familiarity with the pinouts.
I'd like to fire up the PCM on the bench, read the tune so I can begin the task of creating the tune for the turbo setup.
PCM is from a 99 Camaro.
My engine is a 5.3. I have HPT

What needs to be connected to do this besides power, gnd, and the serial data (DLC)?

Thats all I ever hook up.
C1 = Blue
C1-19 = key switch +12V
C1-20 = +12V
C1-58 = data
C1-60 = ground

Excellent, very simple.
Thanks!

Went to the boneyard and got spare PCM connectors and DLC connector. Made up a test rig and read the pcm no problem.
Very cool.
Now I can build a 3 BAR speed density tune for the first start up

I am interested to learn how to do initial set up for 2 or 3bar. I have SD HPT as well. I have a 400inch LS in a jet boat. I ran it NA last season and can tweak tunes on HPT for NA. I recently added a S480 and need to learn 2 or 3 bar SD tune.
If you could share some info I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't know anything either! Fumbling my way through it as well. I'm "ok" at NA tunes.

Right On. Thats how we truly learn the fastest anyway. Just always nice to have helpful pointers no doubt.

Ron-the only thing I would be careful with a pcm that you dont' know what vehicle it came out of. It the pcm came out of a vehicle that is drive by wire it will not do anything but idle. At least that was the big deal with mine. Took forever for me to figure out why it would n't let you give it any throttle. So we had to put a tune that came out of a drive by cable and turn the vats off.

You probably already knew that but wanted to give you a heads up if that happens to you.

I got the harness and PCM from a 99 Camaro.
Of course when you read the tune, it tells you what it came from.
Def a drive by shooting, I mean cable.

Nice work guys.

Mine is a bit simpler, but does have a switch. I just used a 12v bench supply.

Double A.

The book "Master EFI Tuner GM EFI" by Dan Malsic has 2 pretty good examples for setting up 2 bar boost programs.
One is for HPT the other EFI Live.

I bought all sorts of books on tuning.
The Tuning School
The Ultimate GM EFI Tuning Guide and another I can't remember.

The one above outlines this the best.

Very cool. Thank you!
I'll go have a look see and compare to what I've come up with so far.
Figure out my goofs....

This looks really cool. If you had to spend a ton of time getting your tune in order you could realistically do it in the lazy boy in front of the tv. Nice for sure. If i can get enough time from work i am gonna give this a shot. I am ready to install my 80lb injectors and have been kinda worried about what i am gonna do about a tune. Turbo has to go into place too as well as the 4L80E. So this could be good timing for me. Thanks Ron and everyone else.
