Ok so I think something is wrong with my transmission. I must not be good at googling either, cause I can't find anybody with the same problem. When I'm doing a takeoff from a stop light/sign I notice that my gear lever rises up and then it falls really hard and sounds like it's hitting the supports. It shifts fine and well, I just got a new clutch about three months ago. I appreciate any answers, thank you.

sounds like it's slipping. What clutch do you have in it?

When I said I got a new clutch, I meant I replaced the flywheel and the slave cylinder. But I don't think its slipping, cause it still stays in gear, even after it falls and hits whatever its hitting. I'm thinking it's the mount as well, but what is the possibility of the problem being the transmission itself?

I dont think a transmission will move up and down like the way your describing if something was wrong. i gotta go with the obvious and say a mount as well.

Guarantee it's just the mount. Mine did this after running it hard at the track one night.

Any updates?

I have the same "jumping shifter" situation on my C5. I thought that the motor or transmission mounts could have been the culprit and changed them to poly mounts. The drivetrain did stiffen up but the problem remains the same...I'm stumped.

Thanks

might check to see if the whole drive train raises. pop the hood start it and blip the throttle and see if the engine raises too.

It's definitely the entire drive train that is moving. I'm very interested in finding out if anyone else has had this happen and what the solution is. I just haven't felt up to the task of tearing the spine out of my car yet.

What car do you have? Did you replace the flywheel yourself or did a shop do the work? Did you have this issue before the clutch work was done? If a shop did the work I would check to see if the transmission mount and/or crossmember bolts are loose or missing.
