Default Ebay 80mm tb vs ported tb on stock ls6 intake?

I just did a ls6 intake in my 99 camaro. Would I benefit from doing a 80mm or ported tb? My mods are 1 7/8 headers, 3inch ory, volant cai.
Has anyone done the 80mm ebay tb?

I was thinking about this and I would think an 80mm would flow more air (in theory at least, I have no real world experience comparing the 2.) The opening on my ls6 intake is 76mm. The stock cable throttle body I have is 75mm. if you take the space the throttle blade and shaft take up at WOT, there is no way the TB can outflow the intake neck. an 80mm would likely still flow less than the intake neck, even with a smooth reducer between the tb and intake.

All in all, a stock TB is a high quality piece, any ebay TB will likely cause more problems than its worth. I'm going to try a BBK 80mm on my ls6, but I hear those are hit or miss even at $300.

there are some nicely ported stock TB's on Ebay. When I bought mine it was just Jantzer that was doing it and I was surprised at the quality of the piece. Now there are others and priced from $50 to a couple hundred. I think mine was $100 quite a few years ago.

here is my stocker for comparing. I forgot to put pic of it on last post. The porting changed the blade mount location to the rear, definately widened the mouth and there were some color options like silver, black, red, blue, etc.

Throttle response increased for me when moving to a PnP TB. I would suggest checking out Potz on ebay, that is where I got mine from. He's running a sale right now at $63. Here is a side by side when I put mine in.

+1 for POTZ! great price and service, crisper throttle response and I picked up 8rwhp over the stocker (back to back dyno runs)

Yes!!! But only if you port the intake till the 80mm throttle blade can pass threw it. If you do this then your car will use more injector trim. Me and some buds did this years ago. We bored a oe tb till it had holes in it, epoxied them up them proted a ls6 intake till the new throttle blade fell into it. By then it had holes to. We epoxied it up. We had to make a gasket cause the tb o-ring would not work any more. It was a great intake and has been over 450whp. We mostly pass it around now to different buds till they get a fast.
