Well for autocross, the C3 Corvette with a 98" wheelbase might be a good entry. Gutting the OEM car within the rules would probably not reach the 3000 pound minimum weight but worth a try. Also, find one without a rusty chassis.
Or the 260HP Solstice GXP with 95.1" wheelbase would need to add a little weight to reach the 3000 pounds and so just add rollover bar or roll cage. But there's the odd car, how is it classic American muscle ?
There are a lot of Corvettes in autocross but I would wonder if the entries for this class would rather be on a full size race course ?
Also, do the Camaro's and Mustang's want to race against Corvettes that weigh 500 pounds less ?

is he running street tires? Granted that would be some stiff competition anwyway but I'm still down. It's not like a lot of people would necessarilly prep for the class, It seems more of a catch class to have some fun.

When in SS he is reachable by a few in AWD cars but usually still wins by a tenth or two.

3000 is a very reachable goal for a lot of cars without doing a bunch of mods beyond what many folks at LS1Tech have already done (Namely, replacing their original iron engine with aluminum). Heck, these mods alone got mine down to 3K: Engine, trans, exhaust, hood, radiator, front brakes, battery. The rest of the weight reduction pretty much got offset by the roll cage.
