Default 6.0 + t56

I'm finally ready to buy the motor for my engine swap. My question is whether I should buy a long or short shaft 6.0

I know a short shaft is needed with a ls t56 but what I am unsure of is whether a long shaft will mate up to a lt t56. I've heard it will with a special flywheel, I don't know if that is true.

I currently don't have the motor or tranny. I have noticed that pre '01 6.0 is cheaper and a lt t56 is cheaper. I Have 799 heads that I am going to swap onto the 6.0 so the iron heads wouldn't be a problem.

If the lt t56 does mate up to the long shaft 6.0, is there any downside to doing that setup? I didn't know if the block was different or if short shaft 6.0 had a better oil system, cooling...

Which setup would you do?

Buy a mid year 00 or 01 newer 6.0 preferably it will have the normal LS short snout crank and 317 aluminum heads. The early iron head 6.0's with the one year crank are turds due to iron heads and the oddball crank.
