Track times with LTs, ORY, lid etc...
Finally after 4 years I bought another fbody, 98Z auto, and did a few things to make it a little faster. I installed BBK LTs, lid, Borla catback and tune.
Got two quick runs in and wasn't too impressed. Both runs were on Nitto drags with a pretty much dead hook. Times were as follows:
13.40@105.5 2.1 60ft leaving off idle
13.45@105.7 2.1 60ft leaving at 1300rpm
Not bad I guess but my buddies stock 02' WS6 6-speed ran 13.0@107.6 1.9. 60ft. We went from a 60mph roll twice and we were dead even till 110. Only thing I can think of is the 2.73 gears are killing the car and stock shift points.

Nothings killing your car. It doesn't look like its running bad at all. You did leave out some important info like density altitude but it seems to be going what it should according to the mods.
My car when it had your mods + SSRA did 13.1 1.9 60' in 2200 DA and 12.6 in 1.9 60' -1000 da.
As you can see, the weather is a huge factor.

Seems like it's bogging slightly. Figure out the DA for starters. Then after you make sure there isn't something wrong with the car (plugs, fuel filter, etc) get a 3600-4000rpm stall converter. Problem solved.
BTW, what do you mean when you say "tune"? Mail order, street, dyno, or (hopefully not) a programmer?

We're at sea level down here in Texas and the car has a street tune that made a huge difference from before. Only thing I can tell is the shift points are stock and it does seem to leave pretty weak. Street tires though, from 50 it will get sideways a little (tires are almost gone though).
It seems ok for the mods but I expected more.

I had a stone stock 98 Z28 with auto and 2:73s. With 114K miles and on street tires it ran 14.20 @ 99 mph with a 2.1 60 ft time with my big *** in it.
After some bolt-on mods, QTP 1 3/4" LTs, LS6 intake, ported TB, Lid, free mods,SLP dual/dual catback, 3.42 gears and nitto 275-40-17 DRs, and last but not least PI Vigilanti 3600 conv. Car ran a best of 12.13 @ 110.5 mph on a 1.663 60 ft. Managed to cut over two full seconds off the cars ET, and would pull the driver front tire about 2" off the ground on the launch. Car never had even a valve cover off of the engine before.
Some people claim the 98s are the slowest, I say hogwash!
OP, invest in a quality converter and possibly some 3.42 gears and the car will surprise you.

My car ran 13.40 w/ 2.1 60' the second time I had it out with lid, catback, 3.42s and good air (for here in the 1/4 mile high city). So with full exhaust and good air down there, yours has more in it. Gears will help, but if you want to break into the 12's, a converter will get you there right quick.
