LSX block for turbo/procharger?
I've always wanted a 454 LSX block but i also want to go big with boost like a single big turbo or a procharger. But will it be good for boost if i build it for boost? Or will it just blow? Its going to be street driven on 12-14psi and at times go 21-24psi...

Whp goal is around 1500whp, and yup I hear that alot but then I see 454 LSX blocks pushing alot of hp on boost. And on other forums i see LSX cylinder walls cracked because of boost..that's where I'm confused..

IMO, run the 376 LSX or Build your own. you dont need a 454 to make power with boost. Keep the displacement down and up the boost instead. GT5594 with a nice sub 400" motor will make 1500

Do an LSX 402ci TT......it'll last longer than a 454ci and make 1,600 HP......if you must have a 454ci...get a tall deck block.

thinking of just buying the block and building it as I haven't seen too many deals. I like the 376 B15 long block for under 8K, but I'm a bit scared of the LSA powdered rods
I'm looking to go 1000 HP, but don't want to step up to the big bucks for an RHS.
might just spring for a superdeck, a bit more expensive, but at least it's lighter
my turbos are limited to 1200 hp or so, and I think that will be all the car can handle chassis wise anyway (c5 Z06 with a RPM 4L65e auto)

Not true, Phil99Vette had a fully filled and dry deck LSx block and still broke it. Also, don't use psi as a referenced, 30 psi is different with each engine.

Why not entertain the option of getting a Dart LS Next gen block? 6bolt heads, redesigned to make for the shortcomings of the LSX. Priced about the same as LSX, comes in a 4.00 bore or 4.125 bore standard (no extra machine work for 402 or 427 CI), and also weighs about the same as well. The only thing different is the oil pan.

Our Superdeck 1 blocks have several different features that really go a long way when deciding on which direction to go with.
- ERL Superdeck 1 sleeves are made out of ductile iron, which is 3x stronger than cast iron. (Great for Boost and going with larger bores)
- ERL Superdeck 1 sleeves are longer than most coming in at a 5.800 sleeve length. Keeps more of the piston up inside the cylinders when using a stroker crank.
- ERL Superdeck 1 can remain a 4 bolt block or it can be modified to a 6 bolt version.
- ERL Superdeck 1 sleeved block comes in 130 lbs lighter than the LSX block.
- ERL Superdeck 1 sleeved block comes with doweled billet main caps and ARP main studs. It also comes finished with all the machining and honing done. Least amount of hands touching the block, then better!
