I'm new to your forums so first off thanks I'm installing a LS1 out of a 2000 Ws6 in a 55 Chevy My Questions is their a power steering pump that will work on a hydro-boost ,everything I find is the older style pump

All you need is an extra port in the PS fluid reservoir to run hydroboost. Truck pumps have 1 pressure line and 2 returns. I'm assuming that all you'd need is to add a return port to the factory reservoir or run a remote one designed with plenty of ports for all the connections.

Many have just added a Tee to the return line at the Reservoir. They also have used the F-Body pumps..

That's what I did on my LS1 pump, Just T'd the return from the hydroboost to the power sreering return. Works fine.

If you don't want to T it. Lee can make you a reservoir with two return lines. I think PSC has one as well, but they are both fairly expensive options.

Not sure if it will fit your brackets or not, but the 2002-ish 2500 trucks had hydroboost and their pumps have two returns. That's what I'm using on my swap.

I have a 2004 LQ4 from an H2 Hummer, and it had a Hydroboost on it, so I swapped one into the Caprice. It works great.

lowerdd - how did the package fit up? I have a 2008 2500 LY6 going into my 81 Firebird in about 8 months and I have the entire engine plus all the accessories. Curious if it bolts up cleanly under the master cylinder...

I got the hydroboost off of a 4500 Chevy truck. It takes the place of the vacuum booster. It fit great on my Caprice. I had to buy an Astro unit as well because it's backing plate centered the mounting hole, whereas the truck plate was at the top and it didn't work with my brake pedal. I had to do surgery on the pedal AND the pushrod, but it wasn't too hard at all.

It fits very nicely I think, and looks a lot cleaner as well, even with the 3 hoses coming off of it.

You can use most any power steering pump you like , I had hydroboost on my 72 chevelle , it had a huge cam and little vacuum at idle , it went from extremely bad brakes to, stop right now brakes , the hydroboost did blow my old rubber front lines in short order . It is the way to go . The last ly6 engine I bought came from an 08 silverado 2500 , it had 2 return lines on the resivour , the truck came with hydroboost , look at rockauto dot com or source one if you want , but like I originally said any pump will work you just tee into the return as posted previously .Post some pictures of your project please

My 55 has a HB on it. I had the mt built to put the accumulator on the dr side,[upside down], for more engine clearance. [6.0] [Also, puts the lines lower, for a cleaner look]
The original system was an 8" DD, 11" discs, 1 1/8" mc. Even w/ 11 x 2.25" drums on the rear, it wouldn't stop for squat.
A press test indicated only 700-800psi at the ft calipers. [1200 is a target for decent stopping.]
The HB took that to 2100psi..That mo fo will stop, now!
On a 2 port p/s, such as the truck unit. Be sure to use the lower return port for the p/s gear. A noisy pump can occur, if they are reversed.

I also have one mounted upside down, but mine is under the floor. I also had a dual diaphram booster, 7" I think, and it just flat out sucked! I honestly don't know how they can sell those things as I have a feiend who's car also had one that did the same thing. Hydroboosts fixed both mine and his. When it comes to something as important as brakes more is always better in my opinion.
