Default Alcantara shifter boot for V1's - Group buy

I know most of you with V1's have a crappy looking shifter boot just as I do. I am going to order myself a faux alcantara Redline shift boot. I am ordering it in black with light gray stitching to match the seats and steering wheel stitching.

The company offers a discount determined by the quantity ordered and free shipping on orders over $150. A quantity of 5 brings a 25% discount and the total is over $150 to qualify for free shipping. If anyone wants to go in on a group buy with me, I'll order 5 (or more) of them and our individual cost will be way lower than ordering them individually. They all have to be ordered the same style. I'll take care of ordering them and then distribute them when they arrive at my house.

If ordered individually it will cost $59.95 shipped and ordering 5 or more will lower the cost to $45 shipped. For example ordering 5 will bring the total shipped to me to $184 ÷ 5 = $36.80 + $6 (shipping from my house to yours) = $42.80. I would ask that you Paypal me $45 to cover the 3% Paypal fee.

I will wait until February 14th to place the order so anyone wanting in on it please PM or email me by then so I know how many to order. My email address is br_1868(at)hotmail(dot)com

Thanks,
Brian

In. Would prefer real alcantara, but I'll stick with the faux to save the coin for the group buy.

I wouldn't have a problem with the real alcantara but it brings the individual cost after shipping to $63 vs $45 each for the faux stuff.

We'll just have to hold out and see what others interested say about the real/faux.

I borrowed this picture from Fuzzy_Wuzzy. This is what he has, it is 2" lower than the stock boot but the stitching and color will be the same.

Would you prefer real or faux alcantara?

dont know much about it. Is real better in any real way? I dont know the pros and cons. So its hard to say. if there is a gain and its $20, why not.

I'm in too. Since I'm not really yearning for one of these, I would prefer faux. If everyone prefers to go real, I'm cool with that too.

Real alcantara is softer, more pliable which means it'll give less resistance to the shifting. That's the main reason why I want one. The old leather is dried out and rather stiff.

Faux also will fade much easier and generally just feel cheap. I had both faux and legit stuff on my old M3.

That said, either will be an upgrade over an old worn leather boot.

Mine is fine. but if its worth it id say real. Why bother not going real if its better and almost as cheap.

Depends what the faux Alcantra is. Kinda weird since Alcantra is the exact same thing as ultrasuede and they are both faux leather......so not sure what faux Alcantra is?

lol

My boot is in great shape, but I cold be down for this at a later date fo sho.

Its polyester and polyurethane. Its really durable. Lord knows what's in Faux alcantara. Maybe cotton to make it feel soft? I dunno. But its like water and flame retardant and ****. Its a pretty cool material

Sorry, I reread that and it was confusing... Alcantara is used in F1 seats and stuff like that as a flame retardant I guess.

Edit: not the waterproof stuff in the BAC Mono... Or their website doesn't say it is anyways

It doesn't stain or fade either... Some Japanese dude invented it in the 70s it's pretty badass stuff.
