Default Got took on CL today like a damn rookie

For you fellow honest techers, I thought I would take a pie in the eye. I bought a complete LS1 today for $500 off of craigslist. I usually check everything very carefully, what a dumb *** I was today. I got the motor home today and discovered that it was locked up. Ok, I'll change the bearings. I pull the pan to discover that the windage tray was gone along with the oil pick up tube. The further I got the worse it got. The cylinders were all rusted to hell and to top it off there was a broke rodand a bent rod. After it was all said and done I ended up with a good crank (maybe) and some shitty 853 heads. I really messed up and I didn't get the guys name. Anyway, his number is 713-875-8918 and I picked the motor up at Amigo truck parts on Mcardy where his dad works who is named Andy. I asked to bring the motor back and get my money back (the same damn day) and he replied to say he would give me $100 back. I asked for $200 back just to try to get something back. He agreed to $180 so I kept my cool because I knew if I didn't, I would get nothing back. Just a heads up, you guys can save his number so you don't get burned. He may ne a member here.

While that sounds like fun it will only cost me more money. I can just worn some of the guys here and move on. If it were enough money to make it worth while I would take it to small claims court. I knew better than to jump without seeing how deep the BS was. He just may be returned the favor one day.

Got taken on a 5.3 a couple months ago. Should have dug into it better to check it out but thought I was stealing it at 400. Took the heads off and found a hole in number 7. Literally a hole. Heads are burned and crank isn't salvageable. Called the guy from a different number. Met up with him, and...... Well let's just say he went home with some scrap steel and I got all my money back. He even gave me a 50 instead of a 20 by mistake.

I am bumping this up to ask for a favor. I have seen where you guys have been able to find someone with just a phone number. I posted this guys number above and was hoping someone with Facebook or one of those accounts could get me a whole name. Thanks in advance for any help and sorry for such little information.

Did he say it ran or that the motor was "good"? If so, small claims court. If not, you're screwed.

A buddy of mine bought an LS1 longblock for a good chunk of change, the seller said "ready to run". On the first startup it blew a bunch of smoke out of the exhaust. Took the driver side head off and #7 was toast. Broken ring land and a cracked cylinder. The seller basically told us to get bent.

If you are in a bind and are in Houston I have a ls1 short block I could part with to help you out. But I have enough parts to make it whole. I do not know the condition of it I bought it used but it not locked up and no holes in the cylinders. Pm me if need be or text me at 832 258 1300
